Kimchi et. al.

Food is my weakness. Everyone knows that. I eat everything and I gorge on rice. I can finish 4-5 servings of rice at Mang Inasal. For an average person, that would spell disaster since high carbohydrate food would inflate the abdominal area. These past few weeks however, I am on a strict diet mainly because I have a goal.

Last weekend HB was craving for Korean food and he thought that we should visit the Korean restaurant located near Astoria in Ortigas. A friend brought us there twice already and I must say they really serve authentic Korean dishes. Even the menu pasted on the walls is in Korean. The cable channel is always fixed to Arirang. I thought Korean is good. We could choose less fat cuisine.

We arrived at the restaurant at 830 in the evening. There were customers in one table. One of them is Korean. We are familiar faces to the waitress already so when we entered the door, she immediately recognized us. She offered our favorite table. Since that was our third visit, we already knew what to order by pointing at the pictures hung on the wall.

That spells authenticity.

I'm not sure if this is really Korean. :)

With free eat-all-you-can appetizers (4 of them).

Kimchi

Chef says this is still kimchi.

Another kimchi?

Bibimbap

Seafood Duckho---

It was a sumptuous meal. We finished the food and for the first time, I felt that I was full just right unlike our previous visits. After the meal, we went to Shangrila and have frozen yogurt as dessert. That was a healthy dinner, a little expensive yet quite satiating.

i would suggest MARU. i only know of two locations, one along diosdado macapagal, the other at robinson's manila. the appetizers are free-flowing, all 8 of them (including the kimchi). just maybe order 1 bibimbap and two bowls of rice and ur good to go!

hehehe. i guess with that location MARU would be more expensive than the one we are frequenting near astoria. but its worth a look in case we pass by those areas. :)

I have only tried Minato in Ortigas (near UA&P) and they're quite good. Lots of side dishes/appetizers as well. And they're generous with refills. hehehe

i don't know where or what is UA&P. hehehe. next time we eat there we would ask for the name of the restaurant.

Haven't tasted kimchi yet, korean salad and mashed potato lang when I was still living in UAE. Ma-Thai kasi ako. Mas popular among asian dishes sa UAE, kabi-kabila ang Thai restaurant. Last dish looks yummy.

kimchi would not really appeal to first timers. if u want to try it, think of how healthy the dish is and u would appreciate it little by little. try bibimbap also. it has a generally likable taste.

thai food has its distinctive taste and i also like it.

btw, i visited ur blog and found out ur not a newbie. :)

Ahh so kimchi is healthy? Akala ko meat ito. Anyways search ko na lang sa net :)

Thai is close to pinoy dishes pwera lang sa mga dishes with nuts and with different herbs.

Oo, nagulat nga ako, salamat sa bisita Trip!

kimchi is all vegetables kaya healthy. wala pa siyang oil kaya di nakakadagdag ng taba. :)

I tried bottled Kimchi once, but sadly, my taste buds didn't like it. Perhaps, the authentic and no-preservatives Kimchi is more favorable in taste. :)
