ULTRA

Yesterday was my third time to swim in the newly renovated ULTRA pool.  I should have written something about it the first time I made my first visit but I postpone it because I still was not able to take some pictures of my favourite place for swimming.  Anyway, I already made some shots taken from my cellphone and I am sharing them with you my dear readers.

The pool is 50 meters long with 10 swimming lanes.  It is an Olympic size pool that is design for official games and national and international competitions.  It is open Tuesday through Sunday from 7am until 430pm.  The pool is close on Mondays for maintenance.  The public can use the pool on scheduled times except when there are competitions.  The entrance fee is 60 pesos per person.

From the three visits I made to ULTRA, I would say that the pool has improved a lot.  The entire pool area, bleachers, shower area are repainted.  The water level is increased that made the shallowest part 4 feet and the deepest part 6 feet.  The diving area is also rehabilitated.  It has already clean water unlike before that the water was green from the algae that grew inside.  However, I just noticed that they have not replaced the lane partitions and there is no water from the shower.  For rinsing, we use the water from the drums.  So far, I did not encounter any water shortage.  My major clamour though is the swimming time.  They close too early.

I would recommend the ULTRA pool not only for people who could really swim because of the available lanes, but also for beginners.  The pool reserves three lanes on each side for swimming lessons or tutorials.  There are no partitions on these lanes so beginners could swim crosswise on the shallow end.

By the way, yesterday I tutored an intermediate swimmer.  I polished some of his strokes and taught him to back float.  I will write about it next entry.

It is highly recommended that one must be in proper swimming attire in swimming at ULTRA.

Would it be possible if you could instruct/teach me how to swim? I don't know how to float but I need to learn how to do it. It's the exercise that I could do besides running.

I've sort of a silly question. I like swimming for exercise. Do you think it's weird that I do laps in board shorts? I'm not the fittest guy, and don't feel comfortable in skimpy speedos. I'm starting to think the shorts create too much drag. Maybe I should try jammers?

What's your opinion on type of swimsuit?
